Joe is a man in Eaglefell. "Joe simply stands." The description is "Nobody knows what Joe does or sells. He's always in the same spot every day and the citizens of Eaglefell try their best not to talk to him. "
Talking to is an action applying to one visible thing. Understand "talk to [someone]" or “converse with [someone]” as talking to.
Check talking to: say "[The noun] doesn't reply."
Instead of talking to Molax:
If the player carries Map:
say "'I guess I will be off now, Molax.' You say. [paragraph break] 'Don't be foolish. You will not last one hour on that journey.' Molax scoffs. [paragraph break] 'I guess we'll see then, won't we?' You snark back. [paragraph break] 'Doubtful.' Molax goes back to work on setting up his shop.";
Otherwise:
say "'Good day, Molax.' You comment. [paragraph break] 'Good day.' He replies dryly and refusing to look up at you. [paragraph break] 'Did you hear the news of the Jarl?' You ask. [paragraph break] 'Mghhh' He groans. [paragraph break] Molax doesn't seem interested in talking right now."
Instead of talking to Yalof:
If the player carries Map:
say "'Good luck, my friend. I will be waiting here for you upon your return.' Yalof wishes you well.";
Otherwise if the player does not carry Map:
say "'Hello Yalof.' You seem to have interrupted his shop's opening. [paragraph break] 'Why, hello there!' He stands to look at you. [paragraph break] 'Have you heard the news of the Jarl here in Eaglefell?' You ask. [paragraph break] 'Yes I have. I saw him and his guard walking about the city yestermorn. He was met with an outpour of angry cries and yelps coming from us city folk.' He replies. [paragraph break] 'It was awful what he did - making a fool of his family like that and throwing his own daughter and son into the dungeon.' [paragraph break] 'I agree. Say,' He got a sudden twinkle in his eyes as though an idea had formed. 'You and I should sneak down to the docks to speak to the son and daughter through the bars in the castle walls.' [paragraph break] You feel intrigued by the idea. 'I like the way you think, Yalof.' [paragraph break] 'That's great! I'll be here all day. Come speak to me when you're ready to leave.'"
Instead of talking to Joe:
If player carries Map:
say "'Thank you for this gift, Joe.' [paragraph break] Joe stares back at you blankly, as though he has no idea what you are talking about.";
Otherwise:
say "'Nice weather we're having, Joe.' You say to Joe in a nervous tone. Joe simply stands. [paragraph break] As you begin to walk away, Joe grabs your hand and shows you a stone for your taking."
The Magic Stone is an object in Eaglefell. "There is no one else out right now." The description is "The stone appears to have some magical quality to it. It glows in a pearlescent rainbow of colors. You're not sure what exactly it is or what it does. Perhaps asking someone about it may give you answers." Understand "stone" and "the stone" as The Magic Stone.
Instead of asking Yalof about "the stone":
say "'This is an interesting find.' He exclaims. 'Where did you come about this?' [paragraph break] 'Joe gave it to me.' You reply. [paragraph break] 'An interesting fellow he seems to be. I cannot help you with this, though. Perhaps Molax knows something.'"
Instead of asking Molax about "the stone":
say "'I was told you may know something about this, Molax.' Molax inspects the stone. [paragraph break] 'Hmm,' He pauses for a moment and ponders. 'Where did you find this?' [paragraph break] 'Joe gave it to me.' You reply. [paragraph break] 'Interesting... This is something called The Magic Stone. It gives the wielder immense power if taken to the top of Mount Morgon. I believe Yalof has a map to the mountain if you so wish to go on this dangerous journey."
The drawer is part of Yalof's Cart. The drawer is a closed openable container.
The Map is an object. The map is in the drawer. The description is "This map you received from Yalof shows the town of Eaglefell and a dotted line leading south out of the city gates toward the Enchanted Forest." Understand "map" and "the map" as The Map.
Yalof's Cart is a scenery supporter in Eaglefell. The description is "Yalof's Cart is adorned with food items that he picks fresh every day. It's a large cart with many compartments for storage."
Instead of asking Yalof about "the map":
say "'Hello again, Yalof. Molax says you offer a map that leads to Mount Morgon.' [paragraph break] 'Why, yes I do. However, why do you need such a thing? That is quite a dangerous journey.' [paragraph break] 'Molax tells me that this stone can be a powerful tool if taken there. I wish to go on this journey.' You reply. [paragraph break] 'I will lend you this map, but with warning. I have made that journey once before and was scarred greatly. It is not for the faint of heart.' He expresses with heartfelt concern. 'Here, it is in this drawer if you'd like to retrieve it.' [paragraph break] Yalof points to a drawer on his cart which seems openable for you."
