For generations, the Urduk guarded their greatest secret: a ritual of immortality passed down from their ancestors, involving the Ambrotos plant.[paragraph break]The Ambrotos, also known as the 'Flower of Eternity', bloomed only once every century under the light of a blood moon. Its life giving properties enough to extend the life of the tribe’s elders by decades. But while the plant granted longevity, true immortality required something darker.[paragraph break]The Blood of the Betrayed[paragraph break]The Urduk believed that to fully unlock the plant's power, a terrible price had to be paid. The Blood of the Betrayed, a key ingredient in the ritual, symbolized the severing of the natural bonds between mortals. Only such corrupted blood could activate the Ambrotos's immortality properties.[paragraph break]The Urduk would perform a forbidden rite, where a chosen one would betray someone they deeply trusted. The blood would be collected, mixed with the crushed petals of the Ambrotos plant, creating an elixir.[paragraph break]The Foreign Spell[paragraph break]But the ritual required one final element: an incantation spoken in a foreign tongue that the Urduk believed came from the First Ones, beings who had once walked between life and death. The spell, written in a language long forgotten by most of the world, was passed down only among the Urduk.[paragraph break]The words themselves were incomprehensible, even to those who recited them, but their power was undeniable:[paragraph break]'Annir ul zhokra, sathras vorr, raeth akharn!'[paragraph break]Roughly translated, the phrase meant: 'I renounce the end, forsake the light, and become eternal in the shadow.'[paragraph break]The Ambrotos plant, the Blood of the Betrayed, and the foreign spell granted them immortality, but also eternal isolation. Many in the Urduk feared the ritual, believing that immortality was a temptation of the Spirits who sought to claim their souls. Yet, there were always those within the tribe willing to pay the price, eager to live forever, even at the cost of their humanity.".
